DNFBP registration for property dealers, builders and jewellers

Real estate agents, builders and developers, jewellers and accountants must register with FBR's DNFBP directorate under the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2010. We register you and set up the AML records FBR expects.

What is DNFBP registration?

Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) are businesses that the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2010 treats as exposed to money-laundering risk. In Pakistan this includes real estate agents and dealers, builders and developers, dealers in precious metals and stones, and accountants. They must register with FBR's DNFBP directorate and follow anti-money-laundering (AML) rules.

Why property dealers can't ignore it

Housing societies and authorities are not supposed to process transfers through unregistered agents, so an unregistered dealer can lose deals. FBR also inspects registered businesses and can impose penalties for missing customer due diligence, record keeping or suspicious transaction reporting.

What we set up for you

NTN (if needed), DNFBP registration with FBR, a written AML/CFT policy, a named compliance officer, customer due diligence (KYC) forms and a record-keeping file that stands up to an FBR inspection. Available as our Property Dealer Pack.

Frequently asked questions

Who has to register as a DNFBP in Pakistan?

Real estate agents and dealers, builders and developers, jewellers and dealers in precious metals and stones, and accountants and some other professionals when they carry out specified transactions for clients.

Is DNFBP registration with FBR or SECP?

Real estate agents, builders and jewellers register with FBR's DNFBP directorate. Accountants are supervised by their professional body, such as ICAP or ICMA.

What happens if a property dealer is not registered?

Housing societies may refuse to process transfers through them, and FBR can impose penalties under the AML regulations. Registering and keeping KYC records is much cheaper than a penalty.
